The history behind it: Tutti Frutti and the panther
Two of Cartier’s oldest signatures run through this collection. The first is Tutti Frutti, the riot of carved rubies, sapphires and emeralds that Cartier developed in the 1920s after Jacques Cartier’s journeys to India, where carved gems had been treasured for centuries. The second is the feline: Cartier’s panther has prowled its jewels since the early twentieth century and became the emblem of Jeanne Toussaint, the legendary creative director who led Cartier jewelry from 1933. The Haryma tiger belongs to that bloodline.
