What is the Vianney Halter Antiqua?
Developed in the late 1990s with designer Jeff Barnes, the Antiqua became one of the founding icons of modern independent watchmaking. Its multiple circular displays and porthole-like architecture looked nothing like a traditional Swiss watch. For a generation of collectors, it proved that one maker with a strong vision could challenge the great houses.
How does Bulgari fit in?
The Octo Finissimo, launched in 2014, has set multiple world records for thinness. Its octagonal case owes more to Roman architecture than to watchmaking tradition. Pairing it with Halter’s split circular displays creates something new: an ultra-thin GMT with a retro-futurist face, with the second time zone set via pushers on the left of the case.
